NIJ 2014: UNUSUAL IS THE SLANG

GRAND OPENNING AND INTER SCHOOL DEBATE

The event tagged unusual is our slang started with a debate among tertiary institutions in Lagos which saw LASU (Lagos State University) come out top, while the host, NIJ and LASPOTECH (Lagos State Polythenic) came second and third respectively, the debate was chaired by star studded judges like Ali Baba, Yaw, Dotun of Cool fm and rapper, Pryse of Chocolate City alongside Mr. Omojuigbe, HOD General Studies and Mrs. Odum a senior lecturer of NIJ.
The students were put in an exciting mood as Ali Baba cracked their ribs, while Pryse of Chocolate City Serenade the crowd to her hit song and the students danced along.
Yaw and Dotun were not left out as they dished out some advise to the students to be of good conduct and behaviour.

The cultural day was graced by the Bale of Ogba who took time to advise the Journalists in making to be a good ambassardor of the institution and the country at large.


LECTURE AND NOVELTY MATCH DAY

The third day of the event had in attendance Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the Interim Secretary and Public Analyst of All Progressive Congress, who gave the lecture of the day. The APC spokesman addresses the Insecurity of the nation and stresses that the Jonathan administration has to understand the importance of opposition parties in Nigeria and that they are not what they accuse them of.
On the same day, there was football match between the Lecturers and the Students in which the stuidents thrashed their lecturers 4-1 goals and breaking their losing streak against their lecturers since the inception of the Students Week 4years ago..


RAG, MOCK ASSEMBLY AND BEANS CARNIVAL DAY

It was the rag day in all tertiary institution and you know what they say, all work and no play makes jack a dull boy. But this wasn't just a day to have fun, but also to make money and give to charity organizations. A competition tagged "Beans Carnival" was also held between the students to show who knows how to eat fast and a National Diploma1 student Olamiposi Omowale won the competition and was given the duly price.

MR. AND MRS. NIJ PAGEANTRY

The contestants came out dashing in their Journalistic and traditional attire, Dinner and casual wear, with smiles and hope of being crowned the 2014 Mr. and Miss N.I.J, but unfortunately only two individuals are destined for the throne.
After their brains were put to test with personal and current affair questions, the time to announce those the crown fit came and the winners are; a student of National Diploma1 Ndukuba Chukwuebuka became the Mr. NIJ and James Ikpeme Diana a student of Higher National Diploma1 was crowned as Mrs. NIJ.


GALA, AWARDS AND DINNER
The long week event finally came to an end with a Dinner party which saw various students of the Institution being honored for their individual and group contribution to the schools development. Among such honors were BEST STUDENT, MOST SOPHISTICATED STUDENTS, LIBRARY ICON, MOST INFLUENTIAL and MOST FASHONABLE among other awards.
The MC of the night also had his time, as he made laughter the order of the day.
The crowd went gaga when their course mate, Korede Bello of Mavins Record took the stage.
